Feeding Frenzy History
How this happened…
Back in May, I floated the idea by Keira of doing a multi-author writing relay about Tony leaving NCIS and everyone trying to snap him up in a big, multi-agency feeding frenzy for his time and attention.
Keira huffed at me (a lot) and then volunteered to write the anchor leg. Neither of us have a great history with group writing challenges, but we thought we could structure this to solve some of those…issues. We’ll do a podcast in the future talking about the past, present, and future of the whole thing.
We then recruited people through our writing community on Discord and through the Tony DiNozzo group on MeWe run by AngelicInsanity.
In the end, we had 13 authors and 25 stories. The entire series is 103k and it’s available now on The Wild Hare Project.
I planned to just write the first relay, but I got inspired by the other participants’ contributions, so I ultimately wound up with a total of 4 stories in the series. The fandoms I played with are JAG, Crossing Lines, F.B.I., and I continued DarkJediQueen’s James Bond plotline a bit.
Where to find the series…
My part of this series will only be posted on The Wild Hare Project, so check it out over there if you’re interested. Other authors may be posting their parts to their own sites or AO3. There is a collection on AO3 for those archiving there, though it’s a bit bare as of this posting.
This has been a ton of work, but it’s been so rewarding, and I’m already considering what we might try next 🙂
It’s been so much fun to work with all the authors who participated—you guys have been so great. Special thanks to AngelicInsanity for all the series art. To PN Ztivokreb who stepped in to do most of the beta work. And to DarkJediQueen who helped wrangle things behind the scenes.
Why the challenge was called the Unicorn Relay…
Because Tony DiNozzo is one of my fandom unicorns. As in he’s sacred and pure, and you shouldn’t get him dirty or I might get cranky…
